All Saints Church Hall on Downshire Square was host to a small but perfectly formed Coffee Morning with all proceeds going towards Macmillan Cancer Support.
After the morning school run to nearby All Saints Infants and All Saints Junior Schools, parents and toddlers popped along to support the event. Many gathered to sample the chocolate brownies, raspberry and cream sponge cake and fruit scones, which were all washed down with lashings of tea, whilst fruit juice was available for the younger ones.
Former All Saints’ parent and now church parishioner Liz Sandford organised the event and said: “We don’t have a target for fundraising, but we’re hoping that people are generous so we can raise something for Macmillan.”
In 2013, Macmillan Cancer Support raised over £20m through their national initiative of coffee mornings, with funds going towards helping people who are affected by cancer. This includes the provision of support nurses and care advisors for cancer patients.
