Under fives are already well-known for their ability to wiggle and wriggle around – and now a charity is hoping they’ll do just that in a fundraising crawl.
The Giant Wiggle will take place on Thursday, March 20 and will help celebrate the 45th birthday of one of the most-loved children’s books of all time: The Very Hungry Caterpillar.
The Eric Carle book has been a staple of nurseries since 1969 and tells the story of a caterpillar with an enormous appetite.
Now, the creature is teaming up with Action For Children and children’s TV star Angellica Ball for The Giant Wiggle.
Nurseries and children’s centres across the country are being encouraged to take part in the Wiggle, which is simply a sponsored walk. Money raised will help children throughout the UK through the work of Action For Children. The charity is celebrating its 145th anniversary this year.
Angellica said: “The Giant Wiggle is a brilliant opportunity for tots to have fun with friends, get some exercise and raise money for a great cause. Action for Children is a great charity that does very important work with children and families, helping to give them a happy and healthy start in life.
“My little one will be taking part, so join us, Action for Children and The Very Hungry Caterpillar – and let’s get wiggling!”
